Four Benefits of Attending the DoD Virtual Education Fair

Chat with admissions reps from over 40 colleges working with the DoD.

When you’re planning to start college, choosing from so many institutions and options can be overwhelming. Should you consider an online program, or would a traditional brick-and-mortar school provide the best program for you? Do you need to transfer credits from another institution? Which schools will be willing to accept credits you have already earned in the military? Does the school provide specific career counseling or social connection with fellow active-duty Service members and with Veterans?

Before you or your spouse take that next step, be sure to attend the DoD Virtual Education Fair on August 11, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EDT, hosted by the Department of Defense and DANTES, the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support. You’ll be able to live-chat with admissions reps from over 40 colleges working with the DoD.

Here are some of the major benefits:

You’ll get information to help you choose the school that’s right for you.

Your transition from the military to a civilian career is a major life change. At the DoD Virtual Ed Fair, education counselors can discuss special issues you may need to consider as you prepare for the next phase of your life. Whether you’re starting a program as an active-duty Service Member, you’re applying your benefits after concluding your service, or your spouse wants to start a program while you’re stationed overseas, you can ask questions about your specific situation. You can also watch videos on how to select the right degree program for you.

You’ll learn how to save money on your degree.

Choosing the right college and the right degree program for you can go a long way toward trimming costs. Most college students graduate with student loan debt, but if you’re smart about your program choices, you can minimize extra costs and get the most benefits. Learn about how colleges working with the DoD can help you save money.

You’ll find out how your military benefits apply to your situation.

Did you know that the Post-9/11 GI Bill is designed to help you pay for college and minimize your expenses? You’ll need to learn how to make sure your benefits are applied toward your coursework and avoid any penalties that may arise if you need to drop a course. Representatives will be available to help you understand and apply the benefits you’ve already earned.

You’ll be able to chat live with representatives.

When you begin your college degree, it helps to be as familiar as possible with your program. At the DoD Virtual Ed Fair, you'll have the opportunity to chat with college representatives who can help you make the best decision about the school and program options that will help you reach your goals.

There will also be representatives from DoD and federal partners, including:

  • Air Force Voluntary Education
  • Army Voluntary Education
  • Marine Corps Voluntary Education
  • Navy Voluntary Education
  • Coast Guard Voluntary Education
  • DANTES
